LUKE 18:13

And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

Sin 

        - Depart from the way which was leads by God

        - Disobedience

        - Unholy

        - Do against the will of God

Luke 3:12,13

Then came also publicans to be baptized, and said unto him, Master, what shall we do ?
And he said unto them, Exact no more than that which is
appointed you.

Collecting More Than He Appointed – Love of money is the root of all evil, longing for worldly goods.

The desire of money will drive you away from god

Mathew 18:15,16,17

Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone : if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as a heathen
man and a publican.

He's not going to pay attention to what others tell him.

Mathew 5:46,47

For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye ? do not even the publicans the same ?
And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others ? do
not even the publicans so ?

  He loves only those that loves him.

Luke 18:13

He doesn't have Good Conscience ,so he would not even raise his face.

Luke 7:34

The Son of man is come eating and drinking ; and ye say, Behold a
gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners ! 

He is a friend of Glutton and Drinker

  CHAPTER 3 Behold The Lamb Of God! - John 1:29 The next day “The next day” (John 1:29) links directly to the events of John 1:19-28, where John the Baptist had testified before the priests and Levites. Scripture is unfolding in real time; God’s plan is progressing day by day (John 1:35, 43). God is purposeful with timing.
